Dear Scooter,
It's somehow been 1 full week without you, and I'm not sure how that is even possible. 1 entire week without you here, and I'm still very devastated about your absence.
I miss you terribly. I didn't realize how much my routine would completely shift without you here. Poncho and I have been doing very short walks every day that always end on the porch swing. We sit there for a little while every day just thinking about your handsome little face.
Poncho is still very sad. If I say your name he comes running, and starts looking all around the house for you. He doesn't like to do anything except walks right now and he always stops and sniffs the last spots you were at.
I had to finally move your blanket off of the bed yesterday. The last place you laid your head and took your last breath. It was far more difficult than I thought it'd be, I cried for a while after moving it. I just hugged it tightly for a long time. It still smells like you. Poncho really wanted to lay on the bed though and he wasn't wanting to touch your blanket, so I had to, it needed to be done.
I haven't moved your dog bowls though, and I haven't moved or touched your medications either. But, I will be donating the remaining of your medications and your food to your vet office. I've heard theres a couple of dogs who have recently been diagnosed with this crappy disease, and we know how expensive it is to manage. So I hope they can save a little bit of money with what we have left over hopefully.
Just know that your absence in my life is huge. I hated saying good-bye. But, if it meant taking your pain away and making that pain mine, I would do it again. 13 years of loving you was worth every second of pain I'm feeling right now. Yet, it wasn't near long enough...
Love you Scoot Scoots
