Couples don't always have professional photos together. An anniversary photoshoot is a meaningful way to capture how you and your partner have changed over the years and celebrate another milestone. It also gives you something to look back on in the future.

When scheduling your anniversary session, consider thinking outside the box. Choose a setting where you wouldn't normally have your photos taken, or wear something different from what you’d usually choose for a photoshoot.

September 2025, I had the honor of modeling for the AWP DC Styled Shoot Competition. The theme was mocha mousse. A styled shoot brings vendors together to decorate a mock wedding with models. The goal of styled shoots is to win a competition or get published. Styled Shoots can also allow photographers/videographers to practice shooting a wedding where there is no room for error. You can take your time, try different angles, and play with lighting.

I have attended many styled shoots, and my sister and I hosted 2 styled shoots. I have used them to learn and network with fellow wedding photographers and videographers.

Yesterday's Beyond The Ghost with speaker Tom Chelednik of The Knot Worldwide was very informative. We learned that silence from a client doesn't mean No. We should be reaching out to our clients by email, text, voicemail, and social media.

The food catered by Savoir Fare Catering and cupcakes by Blush and Batter Cakes was delicious.

It was a great learning/networking event.

Yesterday's 2026 Bride & Weddings Cake Off at Sweeney Barn was delicious!

First off I love eating cake and it was a great opportunity to meet new people. We attend networking events to meet fellow wedding vendors and build connections so we can hopefully work together in the future.

The amazing cakes, cupcakes, and cookies were beautifully made, and the taste matched the presentation. The Ramen Bar paired perfectly with the desserts.

The 8 contestants did an outstanding job. Couples looking for their wedding cake vendor should check out the following bakers.

What attracted us to photo and video? Well, we chose it because it was the best option when we joined the military. Now, it allows us to learn more about people we wouldn't usually meet in our day-to-day lives.

What does community mean to you?

For us it's hard asking for help. But we knew we weren’t at 100% and still wanted to show up for the couple who trusted us with their special day. Paul Cole and Hazelwood were there with no questions asked, even if it meant driving an hour or more to be there.

The Intentional Layers: Palette & Palate Event was amazing on Sunday. It rained like cats and dogs, but it was worth getting a little wet to attend. This was a fashion, ch*****ne, florals, and networking event. The food was delicious, and the florals that accompanied each pour were a beautiful experience. It was great to chat and meet new people over wonderful food and drinks.

As a photographer, I'm used to being behind the camera and being a fly on the wall to capture events. With each networking event, I'm learning to find and use my voice while meeting new people that I hope to collaborate with one day.

No matter the name you give them: father, dad, or another, they taught us so much and continue to do so.

So thank you to all the men out there who helped raise us, show us what it means to stand in our own two feet, but don't hesitate to step back in when we need it. Happy Father's Day.
