I’m so excited to share this interview! It means so much to me that Growing Gainesville came to my studio and gave me the opportunity to share what I do—and, more importantly, why I do it.

So much has shifted in my business. My mind and my heart have changed about the work I’m called to do.

It’s no longer just about empowering women through photographs. It’s about sharing the love of God and helping every woman who walks into my studio see the beauty He created in her.

Today, we also started recording the podcast, and I’m honestly in awe of what God is doing. ❤️

My prayer is that through photography, conversations, and the podcast, we can continue to share what it looks like to grow faithfully—in Gainesville, Woodbridge, and in our everyday lives.

This is more than a business to me. It’s a calling. And I’m so grateful to be living it.

There’s a special place in my heart for single moms, pregnant moms, and young moms.

Because I’ve been there…
And now, I get to walk alongside my daughter as she experiences it too.

It’s a season filled with love—but it can also feel heavy, uncertain, and even lonely at times.

Photography is the gift God gave me, and I love using it to show women how beautiful and valuable they are. But some of the most meaningful moments happen when I step outside the studio and use that gift to serve.

I have the honor of serving Embrace Grace —a Christian ministry that helps single and pregnant women, offering them support, community, and a reminder that they are never alone.

Every mom deserves to feel seen.
To feel supported.
To feel loved right where she is.

This is one of the ways I get to live out my faith.

Found my very first business card today. Almost 12 years ago.

I started with the name “Joyful Photography by Liz” simply because it brought me joy. I had no idea it would become my purpose.

Over the years, I’ve learned something: most people don’t want to be photographed. They walk into my studio carrying insecurities, talking down on themselves — not believing what I can already see when I look at them🤩

That’s why there’s a diamond inside the camera shutter of my Liz Marie Portraits logo. Because every single person I photograph is a diamond. They just need the right light to see it.

My studio is not just a business. It’s a healing space. A transformation space. An empowering space. And honestly? It transformed me too. My confidence didn’t just grow on the outside — it grew deep on the inside. Because I learned to recognize the gift God placed in my hands.

I started out of joy. And joy led me straight to my purpose. 🙏
