With a wide variety of sights and sounds to explore, the Montgomery County Fair has much to offer. Gooey pull apart stretch in a grilled cheese with a side of pickles, hit the spot at the local favorite, THE BIG CHEESE. Newborn calves napped in sunbeams as guests whispered by in Old MacDonalds Barn. Many wares were exhibited, adorned in bright colored ribbons, showcasing much talent. The culture set within the Montgomery County Fair, among staff, exhibitors, and guests alike, is warm, friendly, and inviting. Looking forward to next year! What a pleasant day out!

With the second half of the 80th Howard County Fair concluded, many exhibitors, staff, and guests head their separate ways. And yet, when all is reflected, smiles bloom at the joy this fair brought. From culinary creations, animal exhibitions, originality displayed, and friends reunited. Among many, the Howard County Fair will be a bittersweet memory, until next year, at least.

Look no further than Delaware - Lackawanna Railroads "Spirit of Freedom" for a diesel dressed to celebrate America's 250th Aniversary. The diesel locomotive was re-designed in iconic red, white, and blue fashion with nods to Pennsylvania state history. On each side of the engine number two stars stand out representing Pennsylvania as the second state to sign the US Constitution, Delaware being the first. In addition, the locomotive bell on No 1776 was tailored in every way to be remarkably identical to the Liberty Bell which currently resides in Philidelphia.

With America celebrating it's 250th year of Independance, you know that America had to celebrate in a big way or should we say a Big Boy way! Union Pacific's Big Boy 4014 recently made history crossing from west to east coast for the biggest birthday it could imagine. Spectators crowded around Steamtown National Historic Site, located in Scranton, PA, for the reunion of Big Boy 4014 alongside it's "sister" Big Boy 4012. A once in a lifetime spectacle that had Railfans of young and old attending despite the varying weather. Guests shared stories of their passion of steam, strangers offering photo assistance to each other, wonder and astonishment spread across everyone's face in delight at seeing these two Big Boy's together at last. A truly historic way to celebrate a birthday indeed!

Virtue, Libery, and Independence.

Pennsylvania, the Keystone State, holds a deep history as one of America's original 13 colonies. In addition, geographically it holds the central location of those original 13 colonies, hence the nickname Keystone. While exploring the area of Artemas, PA, I discovered such enriching scenery winding on back roads during sunset. A field full of Longhorns, their horns wide and magestic, with young calves resting close by napping in sunbeams. Ponds filled with an abundance of wildlife and plenty of healthy vegetation. An old cemetery, dating back to the Civil War, with markers worn by weather and age and a history that has been long forgotten to all except to the locals. Such wealth upheld that made moments amongst it's hidden wonders seem magical and out of a fairytale. Till next time Artemas.
