Yesterday was World Photography Day, and since I’m only a day late to the party, I figured this was the perfect excuse to finally reintroduce myself. 🤍
Especially because after 10+ years of being the one *behind* the camera, I finally had some headshots taken!
So HI! I’m Kelly — the face behind Kelly Marx Photography.
I’ve been doing photography for over 10 years now, which is honestly a little hard to believe. Over those years I’ve photographed everything from maternity and babies to toddlers, families, seniors, extended families and all the stages in between.
Outside of photography, I’m a wife, mom of three and farmer’s wife. Most days I’m juggling photography, editing, bookwork, kids' sports/activities, farm life, our hundred-ish chickens, a dog and entirely too many cats. 😂 There’s never a shortage of something (or someone) that needs fed around here.
A few things you should know about me...
• I’ve recently fallen in love with audiobooks because apparently actually sitting down and reading a book requires free time. I finally understand the hype from all you book-loving queens... I’ve just figured out how to “read” while driving, editing, cleaning or doing 47 other things at the same time.
• Fun fact — photography isn’t my only job! I’ve also done bookkeeping for years and still do it. As much as I love the creative side of photography, I’m also a numbers/Excel/bookwork person. Weird combination, I know, but give me a spreadsheet and some numbers to balance and I’m happy!
• I love COLOR. Pretty light, green grass, trees, flowers, sunsets... give me all of it!
• If you’re worried your kids are going to be wild at your session... please don’t be. I have three feral children of my own. 😂 At this point, nothing surprises me. I’ve seen it all! Need proof? I can show you how our own family pictures just went... or we can discuss one of our recent ER trips. 😅
• “Okay, just one more!” rarely means just one more.
• I probably spend more time obsessing over skin tones while editing than any normal person should.
• One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to see the same people come back through my camera over the years. I’ve gotten to photograph so many of you through different seasons — maternity, babies, toddlers, growing families, milestones, seniors and everything in between. Getting to be a little part of all those seasons is pretty dang cool.
10+ years later, I still genuinely love what I do, and I’m so thankful for every person who has trusted me to capture a little piece of their life along the way. 🤍
