This has been a particularly busy “busy” season for me— which is the BEST problem to have in this business might I add!
But here’s the reality: with lots of sessions come lots of editing that comes with lots of deadlines that come with lots of pressure to perform and deliver— and very little free time. Even as a seasoned photographer, I think it’s really easy to let the pressures of being a professional photographer and running a business get in the way of doing what’s most important in life: being present.
This morning, I woke up before sunrise with and drove to a local state park to do just that. We sat and listened to the birds and the water and trees. We watched the fog roll over the lake and the sun slowly rise— it was the first time I felt like I’d really taken a full breath since June.
Do yourself a favor and get outside. Just breathe. Feel the gratitude for the abundance of beauty and life around you. And once you feel balanced again, go back to making your dream happen. Just don’t forget to be present in the midst of the chaos— I think that might just be the key to both success + happiness.
