Someone recently messaged me asking how my prices have gotten so much higher when I used to be “so cheap”🫠. I’ve been in business for over 4 YEARS now. Four years of shooting, learning, investing in my business, upgrading my equipment, refining my editing, learning how to work with different lighting situations, and constantly pushing myself to become a better photographer. These two photos show exactly my point…that these two photographers should NOT be charging the same prices. The photographer I was when I started is not the photographer I am today. And my pricing reflects that growth. You’re not just paying for someone to show up with a camera and take pictures. You’re paying for years of experience, the ability to handle difficult lighting, knowing how to pose people naturally, anticipating moments before they happen, knowing how to get the shots you’re looking for, and delivering a finished gallery that reflects the quality of work I’ve spent years developing.
SO! LONG STORY SHORT. My prices didn’t just randomly go up for no reason. Just like any other profession, as you gain experience and improve at what you do, your prices change accordingly.
I’m proud of where I started because that version of me got me here. But I also know how much work has gone into becoming the photographer I am today, and I’m not going to price my current work based on what I charged when I was just starting out.
Thanks for reading this far!
