"Between Pages: A Portrait of a Girl Immersed" by Cricket Whitman
Back Story:
I was trying to capture our daughter's love of reading in this photo. She has a rare genetic disorder (Coffin-Siris Syndrome: SMARCC2) that affects her intellectual abilities, hindering her learning to read. She has continued to push forward to learn and we are happy to say she is now reading about a 1st grade level at 14.
Although it's been a challenge, she never gives up, as she was born with a strong love of reading. Even as a toddler, she always had a book in her hand, and today is no different.
We never take for granted the chance to witness her ongoing growth, and we consider ourselves lucky to have a front-row seat!
In a world full of girls trying to be someone else, may you continue to be YOU Sydney! Authenticity Sydney.
No filters.
No 2nd guessing.
No apologies.
No worries.
May you continue to exemplify joy, unconditional love, and find happiness in simply being yourself!
You bring a uniquely colorful and bright light to the world and we are all better for it!
