I've had a camera since I was eight years old so my love and experience with photography is extensive. I moved to Winston-Salem in 1987 and in 1990, I started my own photography business. After 25 years of shooting weddings, families and corporate events, I am now primarily shooting landscape art for my own creative pleasure. I always associated the Dandelion with its familiar Seed Head but now I know the small Yellow Flower seen in yards proceeds the Seed Head from the same w**d. I was not hired to capture this image. I’m a photographer. Whether it’s a mountain sunset or an addition to our city, if I find something interesting, important or beautiful (or fun), I will study it first and then capture it to the best of my abilities. Photography is the “Study of Light” - on REAL objects of any kind. I am grateful to live in a city that celebrates Art. The “Invasive Hope” Dandelion Art represents the enduring strength of Winston-Salem’s people. I captured this image at 5:18 AM on 06.13.26

I pulled this one out of the trash from this morning. Originally didn’t like it because of the of the depth-of-field issue I mentioned with the image I captured 16 minutes earlier. As you can see, in this one I had the sloped ridge line of trees in focus and not the rocks that I was shooting between. The park’s Hanging Rock is just past those two rocks and this was the “Blue Moon” as it was setting just to the left of House Rock (where I was Thursday morning). 5:39 AM, 05.31.26
