Last week, Greeley Fire lost one of their own.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Alden, and through my lens, I was lucky enough to capture little pieces of his life — both on and off duty. On the fireground. In family photos. The firefighter. The coworker. The friend. And the man behind the uniform. A husband. A Dad.
One of my biggest “whys” for starting First Due Photography was to fill retirement books for these guys — not memorial slideshows for a service none of us ever expected to have to attend.
But as painful as it is to look through these photos now, I’m realizing just how grateful I am that I have them to share. To be able to remember Foote not only as a firefighter, but as the man he was — doing what he loved, surrounded by the people he worked alongside, and simply being himself.
I wish I were sharing these for a different reason. I wish these were just another collection of photos from another day at the firehouse.
But I’m grateful I got to capture you doing what you loved. I’m grateful I got to capture you.
Thank you for the memories, Foote. Thank you for letting me be behind the lens for a small part of your story.
