Today is World Photography Day! đź“·

Photography has always been a part of my life. As a child, my mother always carried her trusty Yashica 35mm, and I'm grateful for the numerous photo albums that hold my childhood.

It wasn't until years late, though, once I stepped
behind the camera, that I realized this was my
calling.

Mark Denman once said, "When your heart jumps every time your camera locks focus... you've become a photographer." That resonates deeply with me, as each moment I capture contains a fragment of my soul. Allowing me to become closer to nature with every click of my shutter.

"Photography is the art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." - Elliot Erwitt

Last night's moonrise over Mt. Ascutney was breathtaking. I quickly grabbed my camera as the bright orange moon soared into view. With no time to set up the tripod, I captured this shot handheld.

Last night's visitor.

A barred owl glided through the trees and settled on a nearby branch. As the evening light faded, I raised my camera, hoping it wasn’t too dark to capture the moment. Locking eyes with an owl is always so peaceful.

Warbler Wednesday!

On a rainy Vermont morning, I spotted a Magnolia Warbler darting through the branches, popping in and out of the leaves before pausing just long enough for me to capture a few quick photos.
This striking bird wears a bold black necklace with long tassels and a sleek black mask.

It’s a special species for me. Not only was it the first warbler I ever learned about, but it was also the last bird I identified with my grandmother in her beloved bird book. I miss those moments.

Warbler Wednesday!

The Canadian Warbler is a bird that is found mostly in boggy areas, so I was excited when this one decided to stop by when the cherry tree was in full bloom.

Warbler Wednesday!

Meet the real-life Tweety bird, the Northern Yellow Warbler.

Yesterday, while out for an afternoon walk, I heard a series of whistles sounding like "sweet sweet sweet, I'm so sweet" drifting from the nearby willows, and I knew it was the song of the yellow warbler.

I scanned the brush and spotted the tiny bird perched among the treetops, singing away as the sun shinned brightly on its vibrant yellow plumage.
