I am thrilled to learn that I took 2nd place in the Vermont Magazine photo contest!

This months issue features six of my photographs and a thoughtful write-up!
This marks the second time my work has been published in Vermont Magazine, which is truly a dream come true!

Warbler Wednesday!

On a rainy Vermont morning, I spotted a Magnolia Warbler darting through the branches, popping in and out of the leaves before pausing just long enough for me to capture a few quick photos.
This striking bird wears a bold black necklace with long tassels and a sleek black mask.

It’s a special species for me. Not only was it the first warbler I ever learned about, but it was also the last bird I identified with my grandmother in her beloved bird book. I miss those moments.

Warbler Wednesday!

The Canadian Warbler is a bird that is found mostly in boggy areas, so I was excited when this one decided to stop by when the cherry tree was in full bloom.

Warbler Wednesday!

Meet the real-life Tweety bird, the Northern Yellow Warbler.

Yesterday, while out for an afternoon walk, I heard a series of whistles sounding like "sweet sweet sweet, I'm so sweet" drifting from the nearby willows, and I knew it was the song of the yellow warbler.

I scanned the brush and spotted the tiny bird perched among the treetops, singing away as the sun shinned brightly on its vibrant yellow plumage.

Warbler season is here!

For those that don't know. A warbler is a small, active songbird with brightly colored feathers that are found in gardens, marshes, and woodlands.

There are 56 different warblers in North America. Over 30 species travel through New England during spring migration, and over 25 of them nest here in our region.

Every year, I try to see how many different warblers I can capture. With my best year so far, bring 14 different species.

So, to kick off "Warbler Wednesday," here is a photo of a Yellow-rumped warbler I saw back at the end of April when the buds on the trees were just starting to emerge.

This is why I always carry my camera wherever I go.
On my way home from Easter dinner with my family, I spotted a large white bird perched in a perfectly bare tree. I quickly pulled over, grabbed my camera, and headed down the road, hoping it hadn’t flown off.
Through my lens, I saw it was an egret, calmly resting as the evening light began to fade. I loved how its bright white feathers stood out against the darkening sky.

I always enjoy photographing these tiny little birds.
