Day 13 đ¸
Iâm still playing catch-up from my posting mix-up, but I wanted to make sure this one was included today because it honors and celebrates a woman who meant so much to me. Today would have been her 85th birthday.
This is my Grandma Cookie. Sadly, ovarian cancer took her from us almost 31 years ago, when she was only 54. I was still fairly young when we lost her, but I have so many amazing memories with her that I will always hold close to my heart.
Long before she was actually diagnosed, she brought up some very concerning symptoms to her doctor but was brushed off and told it was just part of getting older. While she still felt like something wasnât right, she never pushed further. By the time they finally discovered the cancer, it had already progressed quite a bit.
Ladies, this is a reminder that if you ever feel like something is wrong and youâre dismissed by a doctor, please donât ignore that feeling. Find another doctor who will listen and never stop advocating for yourself.
Grandma is just one of many reasons I chose to participate in this fundraiser. There is still time to donate if you would like, but as always there is absolutely no pressure. I truly appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read these postsâand thank you so much to everyone who has donated, liked, and shared along the way. đ
