Lauri Novak is an award-winning fine art photographer, mentor and author based outside of Chicago. She has an eye for photographing architecture, traveling as much as possible and just wandering in nature with her camera. Having grown up within an hour of one of the most architecturally rich cities sparked an interest in architecture early in her life that has been a recurring theme in her work ov

er the years. The camera was ever-present in her life growing up in one form or another, including the many family vacation photos that were taken by her mother. Since then the world has opened up to her through her view-finder and has brought into focus many of the details in life that are often overlooked. Traveling was also a big part of her life. Her family went somewhere new every year which allowed Lauri to see different parts of the country, different cities and landscapes across the United States. This opened up so many opportunities for photographs and the wandering spirit which is part of who she is to this day. On her own, she traveled overseas and discovered different cultures, amazing historical architecture and the incredible beauty that is everywhere in this world. All the while capturing what she saw with her camera. One of the questions Lauri is asked most often both by viewers of her work and other photographers is, “How did you see that?”. She works hard to show different perspectives, unique angles and the everyday details of a wide variety of subjects. Lauri also has a passion for helping others, offers mentorships and runs an online SEE! Photography community for other photographers. She also shares her inspiration and motivational tips for photographers as an author at Photofocus.com. Her work has been featured in Our USA Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Kane County Chronicle and on WGN-TV. One of the day trips we made from Leeds was to Saltaire to visit some friends.

They took us to Salt Mills, which is home to The 1853 Gallery: Located on the ground floor, this gallery is named after the year the mill opened. It serves as the primary home for the David Hockney collection.

What a privilege to see his work. Sad to hear of his passing this morning.

Wow. I don’t pay attention to numbers. I do what I do because I enjoy it.
My blog on my website was hit or miss, then I populated it with articles I wrote for Photofocus for over 6 years and continued to add photo essays and stories.

Today, I noticed that there are 500 published posts. The oldest one is from March 2016 - 10 years ago! I had no idea.

I still try to publish there first before I share here or anywhere else.

I thought this was cause for a little celebration! Yay Me!

Wow. I don’t pay attention to numbers. I do what I do because I enjoy it. My blog on my website was hit or miss, then I populated it with articles I wrote for Photofocus for over 6 years and continued to add photo essays and stories.

Today, I noticed that there are 500 published posts. The oldest one is from March 2016 - 10 years ago! I had no idea.

I still try to publish there first before I share here or anywhere else.

Over the last several months, I've been SLOWly making changes and updates to my website.

Life changes, priorities change and there is a never ending stream of transitions that happen. Sometimes on purpose and sometimes they just happen.

I wanted to share some new work added to my shop.

I've also been updating the licensing page every month as that is an ongoing project.

The home page was redesigned a bit as well.

Small things, a little at a time. Moving forward and moving on doesn't have to be made with gigantic leaps.

I finally combined my phone and camera photos from our trip. That means maybe I’ll get around to writing up the blog posts for it. Maybe.

These are a few images of the Old Power Station in Oxford, which is now Osney Power Station – University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. A unique combination of restoring and saving the old and adding new to it.
