Linda Jane: I am a fine art photographer of abandoned locations. My goal is for people to see, “The Beauty of Decay Through My Eyes.” Questions without answers.

Artist Statement

When I photograph abandoned places -- a factory...a hospital.. someone’s home, I hope to show the beauty of decay and the mystery of what has been left behind. I listen to the quiet and envision the history of the building and the people who were once there. Built during a time when hand crafting was valued, the heavy carved doors, arched windows, stained glass, high ceilings, an

d forged fixtures remain after many years. What people leave behind fascinates me—in homes, everyday items that were once needed, once prized– a lunchbox, hairbrushes, toys, calendars from years ago, family photographs, the grand piano in the living room, a car…all left behind. Why did businesses leave old ledgers and correspondence? Wasn’t it necessary to pass on the patient X-rays and medical records that are still in the file cabinets? Where are the students whose report cards and assignments are scattered on the classroom floor? Though I have photographed hundreds of abandoned places in over a dozen states, the former Paper Service Limited mill in my childhood hometown of Ashuelot, New Hampshire has been my recent focus. In 2005, the mill which had operated since 1883, and around which the town grew, was destroyed by the flooding from Tropical Storm Tammy. The life of the mill and its demise is the subject of my book, Dark Waters: The Rise and Fall of Paper Services Limited, which I plan to publish in late 2017. This is absolutely ridiculous that these people got off with only a $40,000 fine after killing and abusing animals. And they’re still allowed to have four dogs what was the judge thinking? This pi**es me off. They really really need to put some of these people in jail.

💔🤬 OUTRAGE. ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE. 🤬💔 CONVICTED ANIMAL KILLER KATELYN LIDKEA OF 4 LUCKY PAWS RESCUE WALKS FREE!!! 🤬

54 dead puppies in a freezer.
Hundreds more failed, neglected, abused, and countless others we will never even know about.

And yet… NO JAIL TIME.

This was supposed to be the case that set an example.
This was supposed to prove the system protects the voiceless. Instead, we watched it protect the abuser. 🤬

Sentencing:
• Count 1: Minimum 25,000 fine required. Court imposed 35,000

• Count 2: No minimum fine guideline. Court imposed 5,000

Total: $40,000 with two years to pay.

• A Lifetime animal ban, yet she is still allowed to keep four personal dogs.

• Only two PAWS pop in visits a year for 15 years

She did not even show up in person. She appeared on camera after being told she must appear physically at her last court date.

The fact she did not have to face the public is pathetic.
What a joke!

Katelyn’s defence asked for no punishment, other than taking an online rescue course so she can be better educated to RUN A NEW RESCUE! 😱🤯 She has no remorse and is a sick woman!

Now here is where this becomes even more disturbing

The Provincial Animal Welfare Services budget for Ontario was estimated at 27.2 million for 2024 to 2025. They actually spent 45.8 million. 80% of that money went to salaries. 🤬

WHAT ABOUT THE ANIMALS ⁉️ THAT MONEY SHOULD BE USED TO PROTECT THE ANIMALS & TAKEDOWN ABUSERS‼️

Animal welfare did a VERY poor job investigating. They did not use all evidence in this case. The court system did the bare minimum and failed justice!

🚫 No accountability
🚫 No enforcement
🚫 No protection for animals

We are sick to our stomachs. Those puppies had no voice and no chance. They died scared and alone & the system still turned its back.

To Brad, our team member who showed up at every single court date to stand for those babies. Thank you for being their voice when the system refused to be.

Canada has no real justice for animals. Until laws change and sentences are meaningful, this cycle will not stop. Rescues & shelters are drowning with no government support or law to back us. Our animal welfare is getting worse not better. 😭
