Okay, gotta post a northern lights shot from Thursday night. Who needs sleep anyway? Yet again, I've found it was pointless to go to Alaska in early February. I get better auroras in Arizona.

I'm not a big wildlife photographer generally, but I was cruising along I-10 in West Texas awhile back with two of my best clients when one shouted, "bighorns!" Unfortunately they were across all four divided lanes of the freeway, so we hustled to the next exit, turned around, and drove quickly back. I hopped out with my 70-200mm lens attached and slowly moved toward them taking photos as I went. I guess I didn't look like a mountain lion and they let me get close enough that I was soon using a 100mm focal length and even wider. By happy circumstance these bighorns were just inside the fence of the ranch I was photographing for my two clients. This photo shows only about a third of the herd.
