can I be totally honest with you?

this wedding made me cry.

it was a day of joy and emotion and actual happiness.

these two are so deeply, beautifully in love.

I can’t wait to post the photo that had me crying as I edited.

I get like that sometimes, pure sweetness will do that to me.

I just think true love is too precious to go uncelebrated.

things I’ve seen go wrong, just enough times to tell you that:

01 you should practice bustling your dress beforehand because someone finding their phone and then the youtube video … it’s a lot. have your MOH over one night for dinner and wine and practice bustling your dress! OR, you learn how to do it and make a video how to guide and send it to your friend that helps!
02 finishing hair and makeup earlier than you think it should end is the way to goooooo because I’ve seen it run over TOO many times and you’ll be behind and stressed all day. no stress is the goal!
03 eat something! eat eat eat! your wedding day is a high energy day, there’s lots of overstimulating everything— lots of moving parts, too, and you don’t want to be hangry for your first look, ceremony, or portraits. eat and hydrate!!!! future you will love you for this! (and your partner will, as well lol)
04 i know it’s not always possible, but if possible, leave 15 minute buffers throughout your day. do not underestimate how much being behind schedule will stress you out. leave some buffers in your day and voila! you have a break (!!!!) or you can catch up!
05 wear your wedding shoes around the house to break them in before your wedding day! this will save you so much misery!!!
06 remember to hold your bouquet LOW. we want it right around your belly button. we wanna see your beautiful face in photos!
07 this is my biggest pet peeve lol. ask your officiant to PLEASE step to the side prior to the kiss. walk and talk. mooooove, get out the way. ai is cool and everything but I can’t replace the entire moment and remove their forehead from between your faces.
08 if at all possible, hire a day of coordinator. this takes the pressure off of you as a couple, and takes decision fatigue away as an option. you don’t want to spend your whole wedding day directing the day and answering questions versus just enjoying it and being present. and if you need help choosing, i have some good reccs!
09 read private vows. it’s just sweet. it’s romantic. it’s nice for the two of you to have a moment, too.
10 choose folks wisely. guests, and friends in the wedding. period.
