Let's show the world who you really are and the beauty of what you love. Be honest. They don't get it because they have never experienced it. The trick is to find a way to bottle the experience into a fraction of a second and seize it for all time. There will come a day when your memory starts to fade and you wonder if it was even real. On that day and even 80 years later, your grand children will understand what you loved about it and OOoooo in amazement of how cool their ancestor was.

A year ago today I was at a bikini shoot with various models from sunrise to sunset. I ended up with 2 images to be proud of. I spent the day bored out of my mind because that isn't my scene. The next morning I met up with Lola. I had some ideas of what I wanted to do, and I gave her free reign to turn up the volume on her personality. A year later I still have images from that shoot that I haven't released because there were too many good ones! Two hours with the right person produced so much more content, than 15 hours hanging around half naked women. Choose wisely and when given a chance choose to work with an artist. Personality always outweighs skin every time.

After three weeks of "taking it easy", I couldn't take it anymore. I had to get out and shoot something, anything. So I ticked off this self portrait that I have had on my list for a couple of years. After working as the model, I must say that I am pretty awesome to work with as a photographer. The perfect image of patience, and gave clear directions all the way through. I even provided myself with a snack and modest complements on my eyes. Overall, 10/10 will use again...

So much of my education has been based off of reverse engineering. "I wonder how he did it". I follow a gentlemen who has a photo like this as the keystone in his portfolio. His does look better. Better composition. Smoother lighting. Figuring out this shot had nothing to do with competing with him. It was purely about knowledge. I unlocked a new skill and moved on. Someday somewhere I'll need it in my arsenal. How to shoot in a contained vessel in broad daylight but make it look like night while accentuating the geometry of the vessel all the while pulling off a portrait shot. I mean it could happen...

With Jeep Weekend coming up, I thought I would reach out to the community. I will be working at Surfside again this year. Friday and Saturday I’ll start working my way down the line in the afternoon until dark. Previously I focused only on the rigs, I’d like to get more owners this time. So ladies- favorite sunglasses, cowboy hat, caps, favorite kid, preferred pewpew, bikini cover, or sundress whatever says this is who I am. Guys- hide the side pieces and bring out the favorite bourbon, ci**rs, pewpews, wife, or puppy. Everyone feels more natural in front of the camera if they have something in their hand. If you see a green JK with a camera flag flying, I am somewhere close by. Hope to see you there.
