We are a week out from Lone Star Rally! I'll be back on the Strand on Friday and Saturday all day. Sunday morning I'll be on the Seawall. Praying everyone makes it safely. Hope to see you there!

Most of us who do it for the art, look down on everything we shoot. So logically our subconscious says our clients do too.
You may see the art, but we see the imperfections.
If you do hate it, don't be cruel. We have emotional blood invested in the project.
Whoever your photographer is, let them know that they didn't fail.

I'll be out shooting Yotas Backyard at this weekend. If anyone sees me give me a heads up and I'll make sure to get your rig.

In May of 2019, God took me on an artistic detour. “Per chance”, I met Ashley on the beach and she made me an offer that I couldn’t walk away from. “..would you like to come shoot our camp… teaching special needs kids how to surf?”. How could I say no? Then she asked if I could do hero shots after each camper was done. Hero shots? I know hero shots! But if I am going to do them, I need to do it all the way! And that is how the story began. In the most unlikely of paths. I am not a surfer (yet). I do not have a calling for kids. I am a button pusher who knows how to manipulate light. My art is of no use to churches, but God found a spot for me to use my gift on a beach giving campers and their parents something bigger. Whether you look at life like a giant puzzle or an epic movie we all have a place or two somewhere. In a puzzle any missing piece is obvious. In a blockbuster movie, even a side character holds value and their absence can be felt in the flow. Find a puzzle, find a role, find a use for your gifts….

Waves of Impact holds surfer camps on all three coasts. Here in Galveston they hold two a year. They also have them in Corpus Christi and this year they added Quintana Beach.

I am an inherent cynic and distrust all organizations religious and secular alike. They have earned my respect from the sincere dedication from the volunteers up to leadership. Their hearts are foremost about the kids. Not numbers, not profit, not ego, just the campers experience and memories.

Let's show the world who you really are and the beauty of what you love. Be honest. They don't get it because they have never experienced it. The trick is to find a way to bottle the experience into a fraction of a second and seize it for all time. There will come a day when your memory starts to fade and you wonder if it was even real. On that day and even 80 years later, your grand children will understand what you loved about it and OOoooo in amazement of how cool their ancestor was.

A year ago today I was at a bikini shoot with various models from sunrise to sunset. I ended up with 2 images to be proud of. I spent the day bored out of my mind because that isn't my scene. The next morning I met up with Lola. I had some ideas of what I wanted to do, and I gave her free reign to turn up the volume on her personality. A year later I still have images from that shoot that I haven't released because there were too many good ones! Two hours with the right person produced so much more content, than 15 hours hanging around half naked women. Choose wisely and when given a chance choose to work with an artist. Personality always outweighs skin every time.

With Jeep Weekend coming up, I thought I would reach out to the community. I will be working at Surfside again this year. Friday and Saturday I’ll start working my way down the line in the afternoon until dark. Previously I focused only on the rigs, I’d like to get more owners this time. So ladies- favorite sunglasses, cowboy hat, caps, favorite kid, preferred pewpew, bikini cover, or sundress whatever says this is who I am. Guys- hide the side pieces and bring out the favorite bourbon, ci**rs, pewpews, wife, or puppy. Everyone feels more natural in front of the camera if they have something in their hand. If you see a green JK with a camera flag flying, I am somewhere close by. Hope to see you there.
