JANICE AND SETH IN BLACK & WHITE || She thought it was a pretty normal Sunday save for the fact that her boyfriend Seth was in town visiting from his home four hours away. After church they got drinks at a coffee shop, he suggested they stop by a plant nursery, then they perused an antique shop, stopped by a cemetery, and finally ended up at a gorgeous park. On a bridge over a river, he pulled out a ring as he bent to one knee and asked her to marry him. She elatedly said yes, and her family came out of hiding to celebrate the happy occasion together. From her perspective, Seth had made their stops that afternoon seem spontaneous, but he explained that each stop actually held deep significance:

"I took you to Summermoon coffee because that was where I asked you to follow me months ago when we first started dating.

I took you to the nursery because I'm asking you to join me in a season of fruitfulness.

I took you to an antique mall because I want to grow old with you.

I took you to a cemetery because I want to be with you until my dying breath.

Finally, I took you to a park because life is a journey and I want to walk it with you." 😭❤️

JANICE AND SETH IN COLOR || Anyone who has ever met Janice knows there's a special quality to her that is rare to find in the world. It's like a genuine deep down care coupled with a radiating heart of gold and an unwavering settled joy. Seth recognized such a gem and pursued her once, but it wasn't the right time. He pursued her again a few months later, and the timing was perfect.
❤️❤️
Janice was the female vocalist for my own wedding, and I walked down the aisle to my handsome groom as Janice sung "How Beautiful", a childhood favorite song of mine. It was so meaningful to photograph Janice's wedding on the six month anniversary of when she had sung at mine!

This is my first year to eat dinner with a sweetheart on Valentines.
🥰

Last Valentines Peter and I were dating, but 545 long miles and the state of Oklahoma separated the long-distance lovers.

The year before we were in that awkward stage where we were just beginning to talk/text again (Dating Round 2) so didn't feel right to do anything Valentine-y. Not to mention we still had the 545 miles between us.

Two years before that we were again in the same awkward just-starting-to-talk stage (gearing up for Dating Round 1 followed by our 1.5 year break-up).

Before that neither of us ever had a Valentine.

Here we are -- 29 and 31. Three and half months joyously and gloriously married!

It's been quite a journey to get here -- hiking a trail littered with pain, tears, heartbreak, confusion, till finally joy beams burst through to the dazzling dawn.

I wouldn't change it - because The Divine Author was penning His specific story not just to bring me into the arms of my godly husband in His perfect timing but to bring me to the feet of Jesus in His perfect way.

I know today can be particularly hard for some. I've been there. It's tempting for me to write, "Look at our story, just keep patiently waiting, and God will bring your special someone" but that's not the point of our story.

The promise of God is not a husband, the promise of God is that He can husband you, care for you, love you, be faithful to you, and cherish you better than any human ever could. Trust Him. His love never fails. ❤️

"How We Met" Through Austin's Eyes. ❤️ "I wanted to get married since I was 5 years old! After a long period of singleness, I gradually became more and more contented with the season God currently had me in, learning to trust His timing, to look for His hand in the here and now, and to continue praying with expectant faith for my future wife.

Just as I became most comfortable and content with being a 'single pringle,' and just as medical school became most intense, I attended my friend's wedding in Austin, TX. As the plane landed several hours before the wedding, I remembered thinking, 'Wow, this might be my first AND last time in Texas - I'd better make the most of this visit!'

We wedding guests mingled in the reception area and I noticed I knew not a single person at this reception. Scanning the room, however, revealed this gorgeous girl in a red dress, in the middle of a group of people who had obviously caught her contagious laughter and smile. She lit up the room with her sunshine presence, and I remember thinking, "I need to talk to THAT girl!"

Much to my delight, we sat at the same table at the reception. As I talked with the Girl in the Red Dress, her joy and zest for life permeated the conversation, and I found myself praying, "Lord, she seems really special; if I tell her the crazy thing I want to do with my life, and she doesn't get scared off by it, I'll know I should take this further." So when she asked what I do for a living, I told her I am in medical school and plan to practice medicine abroad after residency to do medical missions. And instead of getting scared, she got *excited.*
😍
Pursuing her during the most busy times of medical school, across 1,400 miles of distance, was one of the most worthwhile things I have ever done. God's strength got us through every day and every sharp pang of separation, and we could never have beaten the odds without His daily grace. And I knew, as we connected first over DM's, then texts, then phone, then finally in person visits, I knew I had found my best friend, a woman as beautiful inside as she was outside, and my future wife." 💕🥰

HOW AMBER AND AUSTIN MET AS TOLD BY AMBER:
💕
"I almost didn’t go. The pandemic was still ongoing and I wasn't sure if I should go to my friend's wedding but another set of friends convinced me to join them for a night of fun and dancing. My group of five got split up amongst two different tables. I found myself at a table of all guys, one of which was a jolly, young adult named Austin. He wore a mask all night and I didn’t notice him really until we went around the table and shared our current careers.

'I’m in Med school with the goal to pursue medical missions,' he shared with us.

'Wow, that’s really cool,' I thought to myself.

Dancing finally started and I whisked away to join my full group of friends. The “man with the mask” soon returned and asked for a dance. He reappeared a final time, bidding farewell to me now after the bride and groom had just exited for the night.

I heard myself say, “Let’s keep in touch — I’m on Instagram!”

Yet to myself, “I am never going to hear from this guy. He doesn’t even know my last name to find me online…”

Little did I know that he would find me on Instagram the following morning which began the beginning of our long distance relationship and a two year journey of sweet confirmation that God allowed us to meet for His purpose on 1/2/2021…"

💕
Stayed tuned to hear Austin's perspective! In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that I have plans to be in the Central Texas area in February, April, and June so if you're interested in a photoshoot while I'm down there, please do reach out!

Part 3 of 3 of Andrew and Annie's Love Story as told by Andrew:

"One of the perks of long-distance relationships is that since they are inherently inconvenient, they really test a couple's determination to make time for one another. We started dating in January 2021. In the months that followed, we traveled back and forth as much as work would allow and spent approximately a million hours on video calls. For us, long-distance meant that when we were together, we had serious work to do. Moments together were pricey. But we also quickly learned that we needed to carve out time for enjoying the moment.

Over the course of a year, we learned that love can be all the sweeter for coming slowly. We learned that our various strengths and weaknesses, fears and passions can either pull us apart or draw us closer in rock-solid support, depending on how we use them. We learned that God's intricate design for us is utterly, beautifully, often shockingly perfect--far better than we could have ever planned it ourselves. And we learned that while marriage means change and conflict and sometimes tears, it also means growth and joy and plenteous smiles."

Andrew and Annie got to know each other with one in Virginia, the other in Minnesota, and Annie's family in Texas. Here is Part 2 of their love story as written by Andrew:
❤️

"For those who know us, it won't come as a surprise that I move somewhat slowly. In my defense, we did have a lot of ground to cover. In the early days, interest was at best implied, and we spent most of our increasingly regular conversations just trying to get a general idea of each other. Texts turned to phone calls, and phone calls to video chats.

I finally planned a visit to see her. We had our first officially unofficial dates: ice cream at Flapdoodles, hikes, bike rides, time with friends, etc. A few visits later, and I was on my way to Texas to meet her family."

Stay tuned for Part 3!

I loved photographing Annie and Andrew's gorgeous Minnesota wedding! Here is Part 1 of their love story as told by Andrew:

"Technically speaking, we met for the first time at the Summer Music Academy hosted by Pensacola Christian College. I thought she was pretty, and she thought I was nice. But since both of us were shy highschoolers, we spoke very little. Fortunately, we made friends with each other's siblings. Despite our attending two separate colleges, we met once more when she attended an on-campus event with her brother, by then a good friend of mine.

Five years later in December 2018, she was graduating and moving to Rochester, MN. I had been teaching for a year in Virginia Beach. In what was, for her, a completely out-of-the-blue message, I congratulated her and asked where life was taking her next. Both of us ignoring the randomness, we began talking. We haven't stopped yet."

Stay tuned for Part 2!

I don't know if you have winter flurries or at least winter temperatures where you are today, but I'm experiencing my coldest winter this year because I moved to Kansas last month with my Kansan husband! But for a limited time I'm traveling back to Texas and other states at NO TRAVEL COST so please don't hesitate to reach out no matter where your wedding is (we've been stocking up on airline points so that's what allows us to do this)! So for weddings you can think of me as a local photographer wherever you are! I traveled to Houston for EmmaLee and Michael's winter wonderland Christmas themed wedding, and everyone loved their grand exit with fake snow! Stay warm y'all!

🎄
Fun Fact #1: EmmaLee has wanted to have a Christmas themed wedding since she was twelve years old! She did a fantastic job curating an elegant, enchanted Christmas wedding!
💍
Fun Fact #2: Their wedding bands are from a Star Wars jewelry company! The last photo shows another Star Wars element from their wedding!

10.22.22 - BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES!!!!
🎊
The sun shone beautifully on our all outdoor wedding, and the Lord answered our prayers many times over for this day. When I think back to our wedding day it feels like a bright, happy, beautiful dream and I have to pinch myself that it was REAL! And as much as I loved our wedding, marriage to Peter is even better! It is an utter delight and true gift to be married to this man!
🥰
If you read our love story, you know that this day was a long time in the making. God remained faithful through every valley in our story, and we know His faithfulness is our steady Rock for the lifetime to come. Thanks to the many of you who read our love story and encouraged us in various ways!
💕
