The Falls: Another shot from South Dakota. This was looking up from underneath Bridal Veil Falls. It was a fun hike to cross the stream and get up underneath, but it was worth it.

Ominous Ridge: Another shot from our South Dakota trip, and one of those unexpected surprises. This wasn’t my main focus—I was actually heading back to the truck from another spot when I noticed storm clouds boiling up behind this ridge line. It made for a pretty cool image.

We recently took a family trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota, and I took probably 500+ pictures—it's such a beautiful area. I'll have enough images to work on for months to come! This particular shot is of the Old Spearfish Creek Dam, located just off Highway 14 south of Spearfish.

"Red Harvest": It always amazes me how, when I’m out shooting, something that’s not the main focus will get my attention and become the best shot of the day. Case in point: this image. I was shooting a sunset at a nearby barn and was waiting for the sun to get in just the right position. I turned and snapped a few wheat shots and got this.

. . .

"Shining Through": I've shot this old barn a few times, and I'm sure there are many more photos to come. It's in kind of a tough spot to get to, but on this day, the setting sun aligned just right with a spot where the roof has partially collapsed. I love these old barns, and little by little, they are disappearing.

"Whispering Woods": As I was taking this photo, there was a slight breeze that created a sound in the woods, almost like the trees were whispering to each other.
Additionally, if you look closely above the hole in the tree in the back, you'll see a raccoon hanging on the tree. I didn't even notice it until I was editing.

"Fire in the Sky": We've had a lot of storms recently with some very dramatic cloud formations. This was another shot I took Sunday night as sunset was illuminating part of the clouds.

Outside of photography, I'm also a weather nerd. Just watched Reed Timmer's live stream as a tornado with a crazy structure went through the Westmoreland, KS area and did some damage. Looked like it was pretty strong. Prayers to everyone in the area.

"Dusk Reflected": Seems like the perfect title for this photo. There was quite the unique cloud formation passing over the house, illuminated by the setting sun. It made for a really cool reflected image on the pond.

Rural Reverie: I've had this shot in mind for a long time, just could never get it with the clouds in the right position. I've driven by and checked multiple times, but today was the day.

"Skyward Greens": Love how the spring greens of the trees reach up as high as they can to touch the bright blue sky. Just a lot of happy colors here.
