All I have to say today is this: Windows sucks. As a tech, it’s ridiculous that Windows can literally blow itself up overnight. I shut down, went to bed, woke up excited to work on my latest screech‑owl video… and that’s not happening until I repair Windows.
I miss my Mac. It never pulled this kind of stupid nonsense. There’s a reason so many PC techs prefer Macs — they simply don’t have these issues. I miss knowing that when I turn a machine on, it works. With Windows, it’s hit or miss.
Microsoft gets away with way too much. I can only imagine how many work hours are lost because of an inferior OS. I couldn’t afford a new Mac with real video‑editing power, so now I’m stuck with a junk OS. The hardware in this Windows machine is incredible and fast — if only the operating system wasn’t the weak link.
One thing is certain: anyone using a PC absolutely needs to back up regularly. I use a Linux‑based imaging system, and thank heavens Clonezilla is so stable. It has saved me from countless disasters. It’s text‑based but awesome: https://clonezilla.org/
I use two USB flash drives — a small one‑gigabyte stick for booting, and a two‑terabyte drive for images. Cost‑effective and reliable.
