Remember looking through your grandmother's side table drawer and finding photos of her with her partner, best friend, you in her arms as a baby? Remember looking at an old magazine with photos of the past and how incredible it is that things have changed so much? In psychology, I learned that the human brain remembers small flashes of events that happen to a person, making any type of recollectio
n of a story full of holes, like Swiss cheese, that we fill in with what we assume to have happened. Where are you located? I live in Denver, Colorado and serve Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas, Kansas and pretty much anywhere else. How long will it take to get my photos? I go home right after our session and get you a sampler within 24 hours. Then I spend 6-8 weeks looking at your beautiful face and deliver a digital album to your email. This album can be shared with all your family. You then get to choose 5 photos for me to print and mail to you. What if I don't like the photos? Not many photographers can answer this question truthfully, but honestly when you pay someone to take your photos you give up the control that comes with taking your own pictures. If you aren't ready to give up this level of control, consider hiring a photographer, and a videographer. Having both mediums takes away from relying on just one person to do a good job on the whole project. To increase your chances of liking your photos, have a party with a lot of different activities. Make sure your venue is gorgeous and the lighting is bright. Make sure your event isn't too drawn out, and long. The longer the party is the less dynamic material a photographer has to work with, and the less pictures you will feel like you are getting. Be realistic. Will there be a two hour long cocktail hour and only 30 guests, and no games? What will/should the photographer be taking photos of? Will there be two hours of straight dancing? Plan your event to happen in a way that keeps your party just as engaged as you would like for your photographer to be. Think about the types of photos you would like and plan a party to get those shots. What are things I can do to make sure I like my pictures? A photographer has a camera that takes mirror images of what is in front of it. The worst photos I have taken weren't because of me; I cannot make you look like Kim Kardashian. In order to get the best looking photos you will need to bring your best outfits, get your make up/hair done and do touch ups in between takes. Try your outfits on at home and sit in them, get them wrinkly, watch how your body looks if the wind blows etc... Practice making faces in the mirror. Bring a brush to the shoot and brush your hair in between takes. Bring props that help personalize your photos. Talk with your photographer about the best times to have your event or session.
