Donna St Amant Studio

Donna St Amant Studio I use a high-resolution flatbed scanner as my ‘studio camera’ and the fine detail it captures never ceases to amaze me.

I record the close up beauty of flowers, worn beached objects, and elements of nature that cross my path. Whether a single bloom or a ‘medley’ of treasures, the objects are placed directly on the scanner glass with the cover left open. I build depth and layers from foreground to background on the glass surface. Using a preview feature, I can see the image as it will be recorded and rearrange elements until it’s just what I had imagined.

Even if nothing grows, our time spent in the little greenhouse is treasured!

I don’t know a lot about growing in an unheated greenhouse. This one was passed on to me, along with several figs plants, by my son. The figs are now planted out in the garden, wrapped for winter, and I’m trying different ideas in the greenhouse.

Today I put out a tray of Ranunculus that I had started indoors several weeks ago. And also a seeded a bed of various cool weather greens. 🤞🤷🏼‍♀️

The joy of gardening. 😊🌱

Feeling a little spring ‘apres ski-ish’!!! Had to take off my jacket!

Sitting outside the ‘cozy lodge’, sun shining, matcha latte 🍵 in hand, nothing but the sound of dripping icicles and my wind chimes. Peaceful.

Took my last ‘shovel run’ of the day. Don’t push it … that’s when the falls happen (yes … I wore my Iwatch). True New Englander …. Finding the joy in a post blizzard day. ❄️☀️😊 ❤️🐾

Short shoveling break … then back in the cozy studio with a hot tea!! I’ll get to the rest tomorrow when hopefully the wind dies down and maybe a little sun? No where to go … I’m on a dirt lane that won’t see a plow anytime soon. ❄️

I haven’t been posting much, but I’ve been playing in the studio a lot!😁

Happy New Year!!!!

Looking back, I see so many things that made me smile last year … thank you for all who contributed to the joy. From positive comments and encouragement to purchases and studio visits, it all deepened the meaning of what I love to do.

Looking forward, I see fewer commitments to organizations/galleries/shows this year … a schedule that has lots of open days for studio play and experimentation. From photogravure and analog photography to a new collection of Scanography, I’ll be spending more time here in my sweet studio seeing where it all takes me.
