39 years ago tonight: Salem 66 at Stache’s June 13 1987. Indie rockers from Boston led by Judy Grunwald & Beth Kaplan. Tim Condon is on guitar I actually had a crush on Beth simply from seeing pix of her in fanzines. I think I mumbled “nice show” at her after their set then walked away in embarrassment. I was so suave and such a ladies man back then 😄 Beth Kaplan

40 years ago tonight: D.R.I. aka Dirty Rotten Imbeciles at Stache’s Columbus, OH June 10 1986. Intense and fun night! Znö White opened, then DRI came out and pummeled us. They were very much transitioning into the punk/metal crossover genre at this point. check out that set list!

28 years ago last night: Firewater at The Euclid Tavern, Cleveland OH, June 8 1998. Led by former Cop Shot Cop member Tod Ashley, this was taken right after their album “The Ponzi Scheme” was released. I picked up a copy and the song "Dropping Like Flies” was one of my then 5 year old son’s favorite songs

37 years ago tonight: Big Brown House at Stache’s Columbus Ohio 1989. Went down a deep internet rabbit hole on this one. This was suppose to be a post of headliners Scrawl, but picked BBH photo and researched them. I knew they were an Ohio band. Ends up they were from Antioch College about an hour from Columbus. They brought a huge crowd that was totally into the band as you can tell by the crowd shots. Ends up bassist Matt Dresdner and drummer .moriarty were concurrently in the band The Gits, whom I never saw. Curious, I scanned all the crowd shots, found a tall woman at the opposite end of the stage, head down, fist pumping. I found some more shots with her seated, one with hair flying, then her walking off the stage. I do believe they are candid photos of Mia Zapata, the fantastic lead singer of . 35 years ago tonight: Poster Children w/ Dog at Stache’s Columbus Ohio June 1 1991 Poster Children are a great indie rock band from Champaign Illinois. Opening band Dog were mostly Columbus expats that had moved to Chicago and would have a significant influence on that scene

33 years ago this past February: stepping out of the “on this day…” thing as this show came up in a group chat. The fantastic English band Th’ Faith Healers. Sort of a gnarly indie pop band. I forgot how much I liked them. This show was definitely unique as singer Roxanne Stephen fell ill before the show and couldn’t perform. Instead, and this is testing my memory, the band went on with a roadie taking over on one of the instruments & then a parade of singers took over, including Columbus scenesters Ron House, Jerry Wick and Artie De Leon And a dude in a wig. Roxanne did come out for a song or two to much appreciation. Fun night! Sort lived Columbus band Belreve opened with bassist a sort of shoegaze pop band

40 years ago tonight: Scratch Acid at Stache’s Columbus Ohio May 24 1986. Phenomenal show w/ Killdozer opening. Massively good post punk band with a huge sound indebted to the Birthday Party but still their own unique thing. David Yow & David W Sims would form the great Jesus Lizard a couple years later. Scratch Acid is one of my all time favorite bands!!! Bounus pic of Cowtown graffiti on the walk home
