On April 3, 1860, the Pony Express revolutionized mail delivery across America: a rider on horseback left St. Joseph, Missouri, galloping westward with saddlebags full of letters. Thirteen days and nearly 2,000 miles later, the first Pony Express delivery arrived in Sacramento, Californiaโa bold experiment in speed and endurance that forever changed how America connected across vast distances.
๐ For over 245 years, the USPS has been self-funded, independent, and woven into the fabric of our nationโs communication and commerce. Unlike private delivery services, the USPS isnโt about profit margins; itโs about serviceโdelivering letters, packages, medicine, and ballots, supporting businesses, and upholding a universal promise: no matter where you live, the mail will find you.
๐บ๐ธ Today, the USPS continues this legacy, self-funded and dedicated to serving every address.
