“Is there anything we’re forgetting to ask?”

People ask me this sometimes during our first meetings, as if there’s a checklist you need to go through to confirm competence (and I guess when you’ve heard a dozen horror stories, I can’t blame you). But “how many photos you get”, “if I have insurance”, and “how will you get there” don’t tell you anything about your photographer. In fact, I’d encourage you to ask less questions and pay attention to your feelings a bit more.

Want my advice? Find an image you love, and ask me how I made that photo. Not the gear I shot with or what film stock it was on, but ask me how I knew to press the shutter. And ask yourself how my answer makes you feel.

some days really stick with you and I will never forget this wedding weekend. to be invited to sit at the table next to these incredible humans, beside their most treasured people in a place that they love and adore and chose intentionally to share with us, meant so much to me. i still remember what it felt like to watch Al see her dad for the first time and how i had tears immediately, how good the w**e tasted even though i swore i didn’t like w**e, how the view changed colors all day and made these mountains even more magical and of course all the donkeys that were surprised guests lol

t & cam, getting to hang with you in Austin was just the sweetest joy!!! it feels a little unfair we have to wait so long for your wedding, but the wait will be worth it!!!

I don’t have any fancy degrees and I didn’t go to art school (I got in, but you know, single parent household in a trailer park money). I learned to read a room for emotions and changes in people at an early age, scanning for danger. I guess you could call this “street school”.

I scan looking for joy now, and what an absolute joy it is.

watched the entire stadium at the Noah Kahan show do the wave last night and it was just so wholesome and human. pure joy just because. an overwhelming sense of togetherness is one of my favorite things to experience. kinda like all your chosen family in the same room to celebrate life and love.
