Hello everybody!
So, let’s talk about Ai here for a bit.
Truth be told, I think Ai is beneficial for some things, I don’t absolutely hate it. However, hear me out… I will never run your image though anything like Claude or chat GPT (or whatever else there is out there) to make modifications using a prompt when editing your images. If you are a photographer that does that, there’s no judgment. I just choose not to.
Recently, I have noticed a couple of clients proudly displaying their images that I’ve done and a little “Ai content” appears to the top of their image. When looking at their images, they looked as original as they received them. I compared and then connected with these families because I was indeed puzzled. Indeed, they never ran them through an Ai program. When I posted the image of the family last week (below), it also came up as being flagged as “Ai”. I had to screen shot their image and then post so that wouldn’t appear above the image. It was such a yuk feeling. Honestly, for me, posting something that I carefully created and being flagged as Ai mortified me as an artist because I pride myself and specifically tell my clients I do not do this. I truly value my work and I’m proud of the work I put into it.
Let me tell you how much this infuriates me!
So, I dug into this a little further and here is what I found….
I only use Lightroom and Photoshop to edit my photos that I take. These are my tools. They’re necessary. If there’s a person walking in the background, I’ll manually remove it with my clone tool. If there is a light post that I failed to see poking out of the tree line, I’ll remove it. If I’m working with someone that broke out with a pimple on their nose the day of the shoot, I’ll remove it. I’ve used it for removing bird p**p too 🤣 cause nobody wants that in their photo. It’s ALWAYS been like this. I try to keep these edits to a minimum but sometimes it’s necessary. I don’t even batch edit in the programs I use, I look at each picture and give it its own special love.
So Apparently, many artists whether in the design field, photography and even musicians that use editing tools like these for their profession may be flagged as “ai content” when posting their work. I’m not sure where this evolved or why it’s happening within these programs but it did and here we are having this conversation.
Here is my take: I strive to give you the best images, ALWAYS AND FOREVER. You will never, ever receive an image from me that is ran through an app with a prompt to fix something, it won’t happen. If you want that, there are photographers that can do that for you.
I’ve included the image from my site before I was able to remove and fix it. This image was NOT Ai generated, the pricing ad itself was not even created using ai, it simply was a screen shot from my website that I cropped.
