It was nice to take a brisk winter walk today to take some photos. In this photograph, a small wave created by gusts of wind is seen gently crashing into a boat launch. When the wave hits the concrete at an angle, a portion of the wave's energy is reflected back towards the open water. Some of the wave's energy is refracted as it passes the edge of the structure. As the wave passes the edge of the structure, it diffracts. Then, as the wave shoals and its height increases, it becomes unstable and breaks.
