A big horn ram walking on the cliffs in Yellowstone. As their horns get bigger, rams will file down and break off the end of their horns so they have an unobstructed view. You can tell that is clearly the case with this guy.

Sam was a legend. RIP Big Guy

“The Staff at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center is saddened to report the passing of 27-year-old grizzly bear “Sam”. As many of you know, Sam has been slowing down over the past few years and his body simply could not keep up. The Animal Staff under the direction of the Center’s Veterinarian had to make the best decision for Sam as his quality of life continued to decline. Sam arrived at the Center in 1996 with his late sister “Illie” as orphaned cubs from an area of Alaska near Katmai National Park. This gentle giant will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.”

A picture I took from my vacation in the Pacific Northwest last week. The hummingbirds and flowers were very active in some areas. If you look closely, you can see the tip of its tongue poking out. I believe this is a Rufous Hummingbird.
