Way to go Kayla, big buck down!

There was no exit hole due to the deer being quartered away. They couldn’t find blood and backed out. The shot was perfect, definitely the quickest recovery I’ve had yet!

I got the call from a hunter roughly 12 hours after the initial shot. They had good blood and believed it was shot around the shoulder. I searched the deep ravine where the blood trail went dry with no luck. I told the hunter I’d come back in the evening; I was able to locate the buck nearby. I did a follow the next morning with no site of the buck in the same location. After 36 hours from the shot, we believe this buck will survive. These are tough animals, and the will the survive is unreal.

Here’s a clip from last nights recovery.

The hunter made the right decision by backing out on an unsure shot placement. The buck only went 300 yards, and turned out to be a double lunge shot.
