Antietam: America's bloodiest day.

The sun shines down on the battlefields of the past through the lens of the present. We focus on what happened here: the blood spilled, the lives lost, the causes fought for, and the significance of that day in a war long past. Antietam is not just a name. It is place in time and in history. In the single bloodiest day in American history brothers in arms fought each other over fields, roads, and bridges where 22,000 casualties fell. The dead lay thick in the road like logs and the corn was cut like a razor. From Artillery Hell, to Bloody Lane, to Burnside's Bridge they fought for the future of two nations and one country. Valor, Bravery, Honor: These are just a few of the words that describe that day. May the souls of those who fought here find peace.
