Part 1 of my recent trip to Oregon.

We stayed in the McMinnville area for a few days and I couldn't help but revisit the Mushroom House at the Galen McBee Airport Park. The park was constructed in 1977 and named for McMinnville’s first parks and recreation director and airport manager. The park also features a 1-mile loop trail through a lush forest and crosses a few bridges over a small meandering stream.

Next, we stopped by Fort Stevens State Park to visit the wreck of the Peter Iredale, a large shipping vessel that ran aground on October 25, 1906. More information here, if interested: https://www.oregonhistoryproject.org/articles/historical-records/the-wreck-of-the-peter-iredale/

While at the beach, I was pleasantly surprised to see some whale activity in the distance and spotted a number of other sea critters around.

Episode #6 of backyard macro!

This time around was a bit less "backyard" and more local park with a visit to the Kennewick Library and WSU Demonstration Garden in Kennewick, Washington. While I was trying to find mostly unique bees, my son found some rolly pollies and a tiny snail that he really wanted me to get some photos of.

Episode #5 of backyard macro from West Pasco, Washington.

I've had a lot of short visits to the backyard over the last few weeks as the heat has been a bit much (90+ is just not fun). However, the bugs have been plentiful!

I've made a few quick stops recently around Richland Bend HMU in West Pasco, Washington. On my first stop, I encountered a Common Loon hanging out on the shoreline. I thought it may be hurt as I've never seen them on the shore. It scooted back into the water and carried on with its evening. I also ran into a group of pelicans that made for some nice subjects to go with a particularly vivid sunset.

Later, I returned to the area hoping to spot the loon again but instead came across a family of Osprey in one of many nests around the area. It was the first time I had seen three little ones in a nest before.

The Rise & Shine car show hosted by God's New Generation took place on 7/11 in Kennewick, Washington and the partial shade of Columbia Park was a welcome addition!

This morning (7/11) I visited the Cars and Coffee PNW event at Calvary Chapel in Kennewick, Washington. There was quite a wide variety of interesting cars and trucks that participated in the event. For the better part of the event, I decided to test out a new ultra-wide angle lens to see if the change would make for some interesting perspectives. What do you think?
