Hi friends, and lovely people!
I am struggling so much this year with the holiday season and I’m just trying to understand. In years passed the month of October I’ve had up to 75 sessions booked. (Overkill). This month of October 2026 I have nine sessions total. Five of which are bar mitzvahs. I have been advertising., reaching out, Word-of-mouth has always been my bread and butter! But I’ve always had this really solid loyal base. And I’m just not seeing any people. I’m just wondering if anyone that’s not booking a Christmas or holiday session this year would give me a little insight. Even if you don’t use me as your holiday photographer, are you booking a holiday photo shoot this year? I’m just trying to figure out. Is it me? Is it the economy? Is it AI?
I know other photographers are also struggling with this. But not all of them. So please feel free to offer your opinion on this post. Are you in a career that is also slowed down so much that you can’t survive?
If you have no advice or insight on this exact question, maybe you have a career or job that you would like to suggest for me. 🙏
Because I am not surviving. I’m certainly not thriving. And it’s breaking my heart, and my brain. But I’m at the point now where I need a job.
