My top 5 tips for photographing the stars!! β¨ππ«
π«Find an interesting composition. I waited for 20 minutes for a car to drive through the valley so this photo would be more dynamic.
π«Set your camera right, I like to max out my settings. This photo was at ISO 6400, F1.4, 30 second exposure. I always set my focus to manual and then focus on infinity.
π« Put your camera on a sturdy surface. Ideally a tripod, but a bear canister, trash can, or a big ass rock also works.
π«Check the moon calendar. A new moon or π moon work best. A full moon can often be too bright when doing a long exposure.
π«Get out of cities! The further away from light pollution the better. The stars are the brightest in the middle of fu***ng nowhere.
β¨Bonus tip β Bring a friend because shooting the stars takes awhile. And bring that friend some whiskey and they will happily spend all night under the stars with you.
