Taken at one of my favorite spots in Glacier. A little hiking and a bit of lying in wait with camera waiting.
I was across the lake shooting this lil one and little did I know Momma was flanking me and walked up behind me snorting and scratching the ground less than 10 feet from me!! I laid motionless hoping not to get stomped in what seemed like an eternity. She realized I wasn't a threat and slowly slid into the lake to head back over to baby, all while keeping her eyes on me.
What a great encounter.

Another photo from my grizzly collection.
Mamma and her 2 cubs grazing in Glacier park. It's been a banner year for these beauties , with sows having 2-4 cubs. This was in early June, so it was not overrun by people, which made sightings more frequent and no car jams.

Mamma grizz with 2 of her 3 cubs.
What an amazing encounter to have seen them in the wild. I was able to watch the cubs rough house and play while mom took a much needed break to scratch her stomach and relax.
