It's almost time for the white-tailed bucks to shed their velvet! A few years ago, I was lucky enough to catch this buck right before it came off. I love science, and I loved getting to see this process!

I typically go out looking for deer with my super-telephoto lens. Recently, I decided to switch it out for a smaller lens for my morning hike. I found that it allows me to tell a larger story, rather than isolating a single subject in the frame. I'll definitely try it again!

Some photos you can just hear. When I look at these, I hear the ringing of cicadas, the crunching sticks on the forest floor, and the buzzing of mosquitoes dive-bombing my ears. Take it all in now before autumn starts coming around in a couple of months.

Warm summer evenings filled with velvet bucks are finally here! The boys are about 70-80% done with their growth, and I'm excited for the coming autumn!

"As the storm rolls in."

These photos are my first opportunity to experiment with weather photography, and I'm very proud of them! It seems that up until now, whenever there is a beautiful and unusual sky, I've never had my camera. My luck turned around with the storms last night!
