The photos were fun...
But this might be my favorite part.

My granddaughter was behind the camera making sure Papa smiled🥹📸

These are the moments that make the photos even more special.

A few weeks ago our daughter and granddaughter came to visit,
and of course, I couldn't resist setting up my headshot lighting.

Whenever family is in town, they become my favorite models.

It's a fun way to capture a few memories...
and let's just say my granddaughter is already getting comfortable behind the camera.

Before she took over, though, someone had to test the lighting.
Guess who volunteered? 😆

We tried a few different poses (some better than others)...
had lots of laughs,
and ended up with memories that are worth just as much as the photos themselves.

One of my favorite parts of photography isn't just creating great images.
It's watching people relax, laugh, and enjoy the moment.
Those are often the photos that end up meaning the most!!

It started as a pretty routine fire in Hanover Park.

The crew was opening up the exterior and checking for hot spots.
I was talking with a friend at the department, and just 2 minutes later everything changed.

He suddenly dropped to his knees and said he was feeling dizzy.

Within seconds, his crew recognized something was wrong, got him into the ambulance, and he was on his way to the hospital.

Thankfully, he's doing well.

It was a sobering reminder that things can change in an instant.
1 minute you're having a normal conversation...the next, someone needs help.

I'm grateful his crew acted quickly and even more grateful he's okay.

Let's give a shoutout to the first responders who stay ready so the rest of us can stay safe...

A real honor to photograph Chief Rudy Horist's walk-out ceremony.

43 years in the fire service and the turnout said everything.
The station was packed with firefighters, chiefs, family, and friends.

I didn't know Chief Horist personally before today, but after hearing the stories shared, it was easy to see the impact he had on so many people.

Congratulations, Chief. Enjoy your retirement and thank you for your service.
