GDCCC Greater Detroit Camera Club Council End of Year Banquet January 25, 2025
The council consists of 10 photographic member clubs in the greater metropolitan Detroit including two in Windsor, Ontario, and one in Toledo. For the first time in many years I did not attend because I was on the shores of Lake Michigan participating in a winter photography workshop. At the banquet I received two awards! One in the DPD (Digital Projection Division) in Nature category for my "Common Starling" receiving 1st Place and another in the the Color Print Division for my "Blue Heron" receiving an Honorable Mention. Something new this year in addition to a medal or ribbon awarded, the winning photographer was given a photobook for the division/category/levels of winning photos. Pretty cool! I picked up my awards from a fellow Oakland Camera Club member during the week. Thank you for looking at my photos!

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted any of my photography work here. I have taken a step back from my portrait photography some to concentrate on my love of fine art, nature, and landscape photography. I have been very busy for over a year now shooting photos in these areas of concentration. I have been a long time competition photographer, belonging to camera clubs where I have won numerous awards along the way. This past Saturday, I received the biggest honor so far in my photography career and am ecstatic over it! I compete within my local camera club, Oakland Camera Club, of Waterford, MI and GDCCC, Greater Detroit Camera Club Council. There are 11 clubs that belong to this council in which compete amongst each other. My photo entry was chosen as Color Print of the Year and I received this honor at our annual banquet.

Laci had an awesome photo session for her high school senior portraits!! She is an upcoming 2023 grad. After her indoor session, the weather didn't cooperate to go to the park for her session there. The re-scheduled park session was an absolutely beautiful evening❣️ I just love all her photos and cannot wait till she sees the rest!! with Karen Gilbert

I can’t believe Nathan is a senior already for the graduating class of 2022! Just seems like yesterday I did senior photos for his two older sisters. Time sure does fly by. Chris Sutherland Carter

On a recent photoshoot to Kensington Metropark I came across this beautiful Red-bellied Woodpecker having a bird seed snack someone left on the rail at the board walk.

What a fantastic Fall day for family photos! The weather cooperated and the colors were perfect. Had a lot of fun getting this families Fall outdoor portraits done. Can’t wait for them to see the rest!
