The 40 over 40 Project Update AND a New Announcement about the new Black and White Series!

A few years ago, I started the second round of the 40 Over 40 Project, and then I stopped.
Many of you have asked what happened, and I wanted to share that with you.
When I started this project, my heart was completely in it. Every woman I photographed shared stories of change, loss, new beginnings, and finding the courage to keep moving forward. What I didn’t expect was that life would ask me to walk through my own season of change too…
So I stepped away. I needed to focus on rebuilding a different part of my life.
If you’ve been waiting for this project to return, thank you. Thank you for your patience and for believing in it even while it was quiet!
A few weeks ago, I attended a workshop in Germany, and something shifted. I went there hoping to become a better photographer, but I came home remembering why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
I came back with new perspective and creative energy, and the reminder that this is about connection, emotion, and creating photographs that feel honest.
So yes… the 40 Over 40 Project is coming back, and I’m committed to finishing it!

But it’s also opening the door to something new.

I’m creating a new black-and-white series called As She Is, centered on emotion, movement, and presence.
My hope is that every woman who stands in front of my camera leaves with more than beautiful photographs. I hope she leaves with a deeper sense of her own strength, beauty, and truth.

The 40 Over 40 Project is returning! 🤍

I started the second round of this Project couple years ago with the intention of photographing and celebrating 40 incredible women who are over 40 y.o.

Along the way, life happened. The project slowed down, and eventually I stepped away from it longer than I ever intended.

I’m bringing the 40 Over 40 Project back, with a renewed commitment to complete what I started and to photograph the remaining women who will make this project whole.

This experience is for women 40 and over who want to celebrate who they are right now — not who they used to be, not who they think they should be, but the woman they have become through everything they’ve lived, loved, built, lost, learned and begun again.

Be seen. Be celebrated. Be you.

I’m now inviting women to participate in the next chapter of the 40 Over 40 Project.

Others are built from a lifetime of passion.

Olena’s journey began in Ukraine, where she learned the beauty of sewing from her mother. Today, she creates custom handmade pieces that bring warmth and character into people’s homes through her Etsy shop, Your Vintage Treasure Your Vintage Treasure 🦋 .

My goal wasn’t simply to photograph her.
It was to capture the woman whose creativity has touched thousands of homes.

That’s what branding photography is really about.

Im in love with these photos because when I look at them, I see more than just smiles, I see a quiet transformation.

A few weeks ago, I traveled to Germany for a photography workshop. I thought I was going there to learn new techniques and become a better photographer. What I didn’t expect was that it would change something much deeper in me.

For a while, I had been feeling creatively stuck. Not because I stopped loving photography, but because somehow i drifted away from the things that once lit me up… and somewhere during the workshop, something shifted.

I stopped thinking so much about creating the perfect photographs and started thinking about creating photographs that actually make us feel something…

I came home wanting to bring more emotion.
More movement.
More personality.
More authenticity.

Whether I’m photographing an entrepreneur building a brand, a woman celebrating herself, or a family creating memories, I want every image to feel like them. And i cant wait to implement this.

Some experiences stay with you long after you leave.
I traveled all the way to Germany to attend Essence Over Pose by Tina Leu TINA | DC Photographer , hoping to learn how to create more movement, emotion, and intention in my photographs.
I left with so much more.
This workshop reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. It awakened a part of my creativity that had been quietly waiting for new inspiration. It gave me fresh perspective, a renewed excitement to create, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of creating with intention.

I’m coming home with invaluable knowledge, beautiful new friendships, a heart full of gratitude, and a mind overflowing with ideas I can’t wait to bring into my work.

Thank you Tina, for creating an experience that went far beyond photography. Essence Over Pose wasn’t just a workshop—it was a reminder of the kind of artist, and person, I want to continue becoming. 🤍

Their approach is centered on truly getting to know each person and creating personalized treatment plans for those navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health concerns. They also make care more accessible by offering services in English, Spanish, and Polish, helping more people feel understood and supported.

Martyna and Michal recently came in for a collection of professional headshots and branded portraits as they launch their new practice, and it was such a pleasure helping them create images that reflect who they are and what they stand for.

Not every business needs a full branding session. Sometimes, a handful of professional images is all you need for your website, social media, and marketing materials when you’re getting started.
