When it's time to do portraits I prefer to keep things very relaxed and natural as much as possible. I saw the round trellis in the background that would be a great frame for a shot and asked Stephanie to just "hang out" at the fence post. I left most of the specifics of posing to her so that her own personality came though. Once I start posing heavily that natural uniqueness gets lost.

Another one with Barbara and Steve at Quail Ridge Park a couple weeks ago. We had a great time just taking a walk through the park and keeping it simple with a touch of off-camera lighting.

I had the opportunity to work with the most amazing couple yesterday. Steve and Barbara had an intimate weekday wedding at Tuscany Gallery, then we snuck away for some photos at the park. To say I enjoyed hanging out with them for the day would be a huge understatement.

I had a beautiful wedding with Meagan and Sean at Cedar Lake Cellars the first weekend of this year. After a recent ice storm the trees and landscaping was left with a beautiful crystal coating that made for a wonderful background. What an amazing way to start this year's weddings!

I used this photo in the video, but I thought it was worth a post of its own. This was a fairly quick shot, although I took a number of exposures to make sure to get a sharp image. Extreme backlit shots like this can be hard for the camera to lock focus on, and while I sometimes just focus manually for a shot like this, well this time I didn't. I had my assistant, Scarlett, hunched down holding a flash for a bit of rim lighting (she's well hidden behind the Tayler's dress).
