A fight with the clouds and fog for clear pictures of the eclipse, but I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful summer night. Warm, breezy, lightning on the horizon, cornfields filled with crickets and cicadas, coyotes chirping and owls all around.

The community vote had 918 votes across all 4 pictures! Nikki's Balloon over the Texas Hot won with 357 votes. The other 3 came in with: 235 for B, 210 for C and 116 for A.Thank you to everyone who voted, and a special thank you to all of the other participants who made submissions to this year's contest! We had some truly awesome photos this year which made for a tough competition. I expect next year's to be even better!
