If I've ever photographed you, you know that all I want is for you to enjoy the experience, feel (more) comfortable in front of a camera, and walk away with photos you love. To me, that's the whole freaking point.

Getting to meet people like Hannah & Amde, and to have them share their experiences in a review like this, is one of the things that reminds me why what I'm doing matters. (Especially in a historical moment where fascism and white supremacy are undermining the body liberation and social equity related progress made in the last decade and making everything feel futile but anyways....)

Before we ever scheduled their anniversary session, they had already seen my belief that all bodies, relationships, and humans are worthy of being in front of the camera. That art and photography are political and that I care deeply about the experiences my clients have in front of my camera. And hearing that their actual experience reflected those values means so much to me 💖

It also means that the next person who's a little nervous about being photographed might just read their words and feel a little more comfortable reaching out, just like Hannah & Amde did.

Come bts with me at Joie & Michael's sweetest community (+ food) focused celebration 💖

These two and their friends did just about everything to make this happen. They coordinated and crafted and decorated and drove hours to pick up some of the most amazing wedding food I've ever had (in their inquiry, they described a Chinese / American fusion BBQ feast and they sure did deliver!!!)

I also got to be a big part of the planning process, which frankly, I love. We chatted via video call and over coffee in my living room. They picked up stumps from my property for decoration and I offered guidance at their rehearsal. They shared their vision and feelings about being photographed and I listened, processed, and supported them with every step of the way.

When we finally got the day, several people asked how I knew the couple. Not "where did they find your business" or something about how they ended up hiring me. The question I was asked implies a prior knowing and connection beyond that of a hired wedding pro.

This is what i want for my couples. I want to be a friend and vendor. I want to be a support and professional. I want to be a part of making sure your day/weekend/entire wedding season is as delightful and easy as it can be.

I am NOT a wedding planner. I am not a Day of Coordinator. But I am someone who cares about the experience of the people I photograph.

It's FILM FRIDAY!!!!

This was the first session I ever photographed on our property. It was magic and if you've been here a while, you'll remember my massive excitement about bringing people into this space, sharing their connection and my connection with the land and creating new connection between all of us. I am still so jazzed that I not only get to live here but also get to share this serene and stunning space with people in person and on the internet.
