Various scenes from an incredible storm chase across the Texas Panhandle on April 11, 2015. We tracked this severe-warned supercell from north of Amarillo through Panhandle and into White Deer, where it finally began to dissipate. Along the way, the storm produced hail up to the size of tennis balls. The terrain across this part of Texas makes storm chasing and photography especially rewarding, with wide-open views that stretch for miles in every direction.

An impressive barber pole-shaped supercell over central Oklahoma on April 23, 2022. From its early funnel cloud beginnings to its stunning cinnamon bun structure after dark near Central High, Oklahoma, this storm put on an unforgettable show. It was definitely a good day to have a good day chasing!

The word muchness traces back to Middle English, where it meant sheer magnitude or largeness. Centuries later, it resurfaced in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010), when the Mad Hatter lamented: “You’ve lost your muchness.” I’m bringing it back — because this chase across north Texas had Much Muchness in every mile...the kind you can measure in miles of inflow and stacked layers of this beastly tornado-warned supercell churning its way from Wichita Falls to north of Burkburnett the afternoon of May 22, 2020.

Flashback: It was such a privilege to photograph this incredible supercell back on June 8, 2025. This storm developed near Claude during the late afternoon and tracked southeast across Antelope Flats, Turkey and finally becoming outflow dominant before reaching Benjamin. The hail core in this storm was one of the most colorful I've ever seen.

Throwback! Three distinctly different scenes from a full day of chasing across western North Texas back on April 29, 2025. We began our day observing a severe warned supercell to the west of Aspermont with a lovely field of wildflowers in the foreground. As the storm continued to ramp up, we headed east towards O'Brien capturing this stunning blue/green hail core. Lastly, the Bridle Bit bull west of Throckmorton ahead of our final supercell of the day.
