Haven't posted in a little while, I've been all up in my feels after losing my goodest girl Ellie right after Christmas.
It's hard to move on with your life when you know your best doggo isn't alongside with you.
But then her loss reminds me: This is why I do what I do.
This.
Photos are the first thing you run to when you lose someone you love, whether that's a person or a pet.
So here's a newborn photo of my own little Kirby. This kid will be three in April and he no longer looks like this.
But his eyebrows are still this expressive. They always have been.

I have to show my face around here sometimes! 😜

Figured I'd show you this throwback, back before there were kids, back before we had crazy responsibilities and insane deadlines. It used to just be me, Josh and Ellie.

We had to take the awkward Christmas card photo. We all donned ugly sweaters, made a drink and set the camera timer. Our poor Ellie was so uncomfortable in her little sweater, but I'm thankful we got the picture.

She just passed away four days after Christmas this year.

We forget that we won't always have our people and our pets in our lives. Things change. People move away. Pets move on. But always and forever, we will have the PICTURES. We will keep the MEMORIES.

And even though my sweet girl isn't here anymore, even though my husband and I are super stressed and going through the wringer now, we had good times through it all.

And we have the pictures to prove it. ❤️

We're taking the pictures now too, we will remember just how crazy it was and my goodness how grateful our future selves will be for the hard work we're putting in. The late nights and tired days.

It's worth it for our family.

My sweet Ellie girl, my shadow, the dog that stole my heart crossed over to the other side early this morning. 💔
I can't describe the pain we're in. She made our lives so much better in every way possible.
I'll miss you, Ellie beans. Mama. Brown dog.
