Spoiler alert: momma and baby are perfectly perfect and doing well 🩵

Expecting mommas are some of my favorite people to photograph! This mini session, though, was very personal and special to me as this momma is my sister*! And about to give me my first niece/nephew on my side of the family. We had big plans for her maternity session, and were planning locations and outfits and timing. But when she went into labor at 21 weeks, all those plans fell to the side as she was hospitalized for countless tests and monitoring. Baby was not growing, was anemic and possibly needed intrauterine blood transfusions, had abnormal blood flow, and many other scary issues. My sister was healthy initially and stayed in the hospital for months on strict bed rest. We knew baby could come any day, and were all praying and holding our breath that they stayed in as long as possible. At about 24 weeks, things were stable so her doctors allowed us to wheel her down to this beautiful little outdoor space at the hospital for just a few minutes, where we took advantage of the fresh air and sunshine and got some photos of her sweet belly! I’m so glad we did, because baby came shortly after this via emergency delivery. IT WAS A BOY!!! He was tiny and perfect from the start, and after months in the NICU, he is a bright, happy, giggling, ray of sunshine ☀️
