Exploring the north with Lauren and Jackson.

From sun soaked black sands to heat lighting in the distance at Palisade Head, MN, Lauren and Jackson giggled, ran, and snuggled through it all.

Budapest is one of the few places I’ve traveled that felt breathtaking and heavy at the same time.

As a photographer, it’s impossible not to fall in love with the architecture, the light, and the way the city feels cinematic at every turn - but what stayed with me most was the history woven into it all. There’s a rawness and resilience there you can feel.

I’m deeply grateful not only for the places photography has taken me, but for the people it’s brought into my life along the way. New friends, new perspectives, and moments I know I’ll carry with me for a long time.

For my friends and family in Budapest, thank you, am sending all my love to you until I can visit you again. 🫶

Hot take: your engagement photos don’t need to happen during “engagement season.”

You know the season I’m talking about - the same 4 weeks every fall where every grass field is packed, every couple is stressed about peak colors, and everyone’s photos start looking… the same.

Meanwhile Wisconsin has entire corners of the state that feel cinematic almost year round if you stop chasing the exact same Wisconsin timeline as everyone else.

Bayfield, for example?
Underrated in literally every season.
Foggy shorelines.
Moody lake air.
Wild cliffs.
Tiny coastal town energy.
Apple orchards in the fall.
Soft muted tones in spring.
Stormy summer skies that look like a movie.

Your photos don’t need to scream “OCTOBER IN WISCONSIN” to feel timeless. Sometimes the best thing you can do is choose a place that actually feels like you instead of fighting 400 other couples for the same 20 trees.

Hot take: your Wisconsin elopement does not need mountains to feel cinematic.

I KNOW. I LOVE my cliffside elopements and engagement sessions, but HEAR ME OUT.

I think social media convinced couples that if you aren’t standing on a cliff in Yosemite, your elopement somehow “doesn’t count.”

Meanwhile Wisconsin is out here casually offering:
— foggy pine forests
— empty beaches on Lake Superior
— winding northwoods roads
— dramatic bluffs
— cozy cabin weekends
— small towns that feel straight out of a film

And honestly?

A lot of couples are so focused on chasing a Pinterest location that they forget they want their wedding day to actually feel relaxed.

No stress. 
No permit chaos.
No tourist crowds clapping while you read your vows.

Just the two of you having a genuinely beautiful day without turning it into a production.

So whether Yosemite or Wisconsin is calling your name, the important thing is that you chase a location the feels like YOU. Not just what feels popular or cool.

Cut Aunt Kathy from the guest list. Seriously.

If the only reason someone is invited to your wedding is because you’re afraid they’ll be offended… they probably shouldn’t be there.

One of the biggest things my couples realize when planning an elopement is how many wedding decisions are rooted in guilt instead of desire.

Your wedding is not a family reunion.

It’s not a performance.

Heck, it’s not even a “who’s closet to the bride and groom to warrant an invite” competition.

And it’s definitely not worth going into debt so distant relatives can eat dry chicken and leave at 9 pm.

If the thought of a huge wedding makes your chest tighten every time you open Pinterest… that’s your answer.

The couples who elope with me almost always say the same thing after:

“We actually got to experience our day instead of manage it.”

You are allowed to choose peace over people pleasing.
