Blue or red — which would you choose?
This is Spec. Emerging canine actor, little brother to the legendary Merlin, and my first subject for the Embark challenges.
I had driven past that red door in downtown Watkinsville for years thinking — I need to photograph a dog there. The Colouriffic Challenge was finally my reason.
And then I pulled up Google Street View to scout the block and spotted the turquoise door at the Entangled Cat Cafe. Blue and orange are complementary colors — directly opposite on the color wheel — and Spec’s markings are so warmly orange that I knew the contrast would be striking.
So we did both.
Spec was an absolute professional. Held his marks, worked the camera, gave me exactly what I needed — except for the moments when my noises were apparently too interesting to ignore and he had to break his stay to investigate. Fair enough, honestly.
