Oooof, first day back to work after a sunny vacation was a rough one😂. Here are some of my faves from our trip to PR. A few people had some questions in my DMs after I posted my reel the other day, so here are my big takeaways if you’re planning a vacation to Puerto Rico with kids.
🌴 We stayed in Rio Mar and thought it was the perfect location with access to beaches AND El Yunque rainforest. Not to mention it was only about 40 minutes from San Juan.
🌴 We stayed at Wyndham Grand Rio Mar which I thought was a perfect mid-size resort with just the right amount of activity.
🌴 Definitely rent a car (we got ours through Costco Travel for about $350 for 5 days)
🌴 Everyone I know who had ever been to PR told me how quickly they got sunburned even with sunscreen. We brought 100 spf and I had the kids in long-sleeved swim shirts as much as possible. We had minimal sunburning 👏🏻.
🌴 You’ll probably need bug spray too. The sand fly situation was something I had read about in FB groups and it was definitely a nuisance (but it didn’t ruin our trip by any means!)
🌴 Although night kayaking was really cool, the bio bay at Fajardo wasn’t that great, so if you have all the time in the world and don’t mind having to take a ferry, do the better one in Vieques.
🌴 I found the food at both our resort and off-site to be priced pretty similarly (and comparable to Boston, actually), so we opted to have almost all of our meals at local places to support small businesses! Try mofongo (mashed plantains with meat on top!) 😋
