I am predominantly a children's and family photographer, though I have recently started booking weddings and events. I am a huge proponent of activity-based sessions (apple picking, playing with the dog at your favorite park, or just about anything you and yours love to do together), so if you have an idea for a candid, active session, I'm all ears! My summer came to an end today as I’m heading back to school tomorrow, so Im reflecting on every session I had this summer and feeling immensely grateful! This was the absolute best way to wrap up August. Tug of war, a family pie eating contest (yes, you read that right!), piggyback races and some trampoline backflips 👏🏻. I always have such a blast with this crew, and am so grateful for every single client who returns year after year. I can’t wait to see so many of you this fall! 📷

When weather apps/websites give conflicting forecasts it’s always a little stressful, and there are conflicting forecasts on days when multiple sessions are scheduled back-to-back, it’s even more stressful 🫠. What if the weather holds out for 1 family and not the others, ya know?! On this night in early August I decided to trust the better forecast (plus the radar looked okay for the particular town we were going to), but it looked like absolute Doomsday as I drove to the location and I started to get a little panicky. It ended up being completely dry for my first two sessions (with some moody, dramatic skies!) and as it started to rain during my third 🫣, the sky simultaneously lit up with the most vibrantttt orange I had seen in a while! I think it’s safe to say that we had just about every type of light that night, and I’m so glad we went for it 👏🏻 🤩.

Also, fun fact: This dog’s name is Spork and I love it😆. It got me thinking about all of the other awesome dog names I’ve encountered, like Potato the Mastiff😆. I meannnn, is that amazing or what? What’s the best dog name you’ve ever heard?!

I think I’ve had a record number of sessions at Boston Public Garden this summer, and each one was so darn cute that I haven’t posted any because I’ve been too indecisive about which to choose 😂( ). This is the one I most recently delivered which means it’s still on my computer, AND it includes duck-chasing😂😂😂, so this is the one that’s making the grid for now! Would anyone be interested in a BPG AM vs PM post though?! I mainly did morning sessions there this summer and I use it completely differently in the morning than I do in the evening. Might be fun to see some side-by-sides?! Let me know in the comments if you’d be interested ⬇️ .

The theme of this family’s session last year was swinging, and this year it was running 🏃‍♂️. So much running 😂. And also turning my blanket into a “tent” which absolutely cracked me up🤣. Happy, high energy kids are so much fun to photograph! It’s totally fine by me if I have to run after them for the entire session. We always end up with absolute gold 👏🏻.

Two reasons you should swipe through this whole set: 1) This litle guy has the cutesttttt cheeks I ever did see! B) Something unexpectedly emerged from under the couch at the very end of the session and scared the crap out of me 🤣. I caught it on camera and you’ll have to scroll to see 😉.

This rising senior crushed her recent session 💥, and as her mother later wrote in her sweet review, DON’T WAIT UNTIL THEY’RE SENIORS TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS TAKEN 😭❤️. I skipped photos with my own family last year, but am excited to trade with a friend later this year to capture the stage we’re in right now, even if it includes absurd amounts of feral wrestling and some seriously awkward braces on my oldest 😜. There’s no time like the present, as they say! If you’re considering fall photos, I have two spots left in September and three left in November. I’ve been hard at work trying to get my fall calendar planned and ready to go! This includes scouting a couple of new places and combing through people’s survey responses to see what you’re all looking for! If you’re new around here, let me explain!

In addition to my photography job, I’m also a full-time teacher, which means that come September I can only do sessions on weekends. SO, I book back-to-back families on Saturdays and hold Sundays as rain dates. Since Im stacking sessions, I pre-select the locations so it’s important to me that I rotate the tried and true ones every couple of years and throw in a couple of new ones as well. also pick spots all over the greater Boston area to give clients options that work well for them. I sometimes do back-to-back sessions in the summer too (but not always!) and wanted to share an example of two sessions booked on the same night to showcase that even though they were at the same place at the same time, each is unique to their families! We may use slightly different backdrops depending on how the light changes and how the kids are handling the session. Some do best to hang in one spot. Others need to keep moving. It all works and is tailored to YOU, even if you’re not picking the location yourself. If you’re hoping to book a spot this fall, please make sure you’re on my mailing list as the calendar is officially going out on Thursday night at 8:00! And be sure to check your Promotions folder if you don’t see it. All of my emails seem to be going there lately 🫠.

The weather this past weekend and today was pretty much perfection (and my client here was so lucky!!), but tomorrow’s going to be 95 in Boston 🥵, followed by a drop into the 60s with rain for the weekend. Which leads me to wonder…is it this manic anywhere outside of New England and the Northeast?! This is 🍌!
