One Iowa Action LGBTQ+ Day on the Hill
My first time at the capital was my senior year of high school, which admittedly wasn't to long ago. All I thought of was how fancy the pillars were, how old some of the books there must be, and wondering if they had good coffee in their offices. What I didn't think about is the amount of difference the choices made there would affect us. Recently an anti trans bill was passed in that same capitol, removing the civil rights of trans people all over Iowa. To put it simply they can be denied housing, education, employment, service, and healthcare. This decision will put trans blood on this state's hands. This bill wqs not passed to help the people of Iowa, it didn't make our groceries cheaper, it didn't fund education, it didn't raise our salaries. This bill does nothing but put trans people down. If you have the time become part of a supportive community and seek action in your communities. Creatives of Iowa! Art has always been a way to share a message or story. If you are a photographer, designer, poet, song writer, filmer, director, and much more, make your voices and those of others head! There is always someone whose story needs to be told. Cause ain't no one ask for permission when inspiring change.
