I kept meaning to go back to both Osprey nests I found earlier this summer… and somehow, I just never got around to it. 😂

Being a wildlife photographer in Alaska means it’s ridiculously easy to get distracted by pretty much anything and everything. There’s always something to see, and sometimes the original plan just gets overriden with another adventure.

With the lakes freezing over, most Ospreys should have migrated by now. I’ll try to do better about revisiting these nests next year! 🤞

A Spruce Grouse hen and her VERY big chick crossing the trail at first light.

Spruce Grouse chicks typically stay with their mother for about 10–15 weeks before finally heading off on their own in late summer. Looks like this little one is growing up fast! 💖

Two giants. 23 on the left and Van Gogh on the right, preparing for a potential face-off on a foggy, rainy morning. 🫎

The tension was unreal. These two massive bulls stayed less than 100 feet apart, and they had already gone head-to-head the night before, locking antlers without ever truly leaving the other's side. You could feel the tension between them, both vying for the attention of the two cows standing between them.

They took turns raking their massive antlers through the grass and against trees, each sizing the other up. They continued circling one another, almost as if they were trying to decide whether it was worth risking it all over two cows... *again.* 😳
