Last weekend we left home late Thursday evening to Eureka to start our second annual riding/camping trip with Jake Grutsch and Heather Andrus. We unloaded the RZR’s and were ready to hit the trail by 10 pm. Over the weekend we racked up nearly 150 miles exploring as many new areas as possible. The views were incredible. We had a little bit of rain but not enough to destroy our spirit. We ate ribeyes, shrimp and pork ribs over the fire and Jake even made Ceviche on the side of the mountain with fresh caught Grayling from the night before. Lots of laughs and smiles were had and memories made. Combined we had over 500 pictures to sift through but I could only get 50 into the video. Watch along and get a glimpse of our passions being lived! I hope you live out yours.

Jason was such a kind, loving, hardworking man. I am forever grateful the love he showed our children as Uncle Jason. This loss hurts and is hard to accept and he will be forever missed. If you knew him, you knew the type of person he was and the impact he had on those around him. If you’ve driven the Glenn Highway in the winter and smiled at the random Christmas tree, lit up out in the middle of nowhere. That was Jason that did that out of the good of his heart.

The tree is lit as we speak in his memory. Hopefully it’ll shine bright tonight.

This fund will help Kaye Lynn and their daughters as they navigate this difficult time without him. Anything helps. Please share!

Incredible day the other day. Had been quite awhile since I’ve done a nice long solo ride. Left early to get out ahead of the racers, I followed this years Skwentna Roadhouse 200 XC race course. End of the day I racked up 236 miles, majority of which was overland and also a majority of which was new trails I’ve never been on. Some amazing country out there. Saw a few moose, couple eagles, ate a few burritos that cooked in route and picked up a few parts from wiped out racers. They were stoked to get their stuff back!
Follow along on an epic day spent! Never stop exploring!

When you have great friends, great things can happen! Super fun trip to the Innoko River area to break trail for the Iron Dog Race. The temps were great until the return trip, but it didn’t take away from the adventure!

The night sky came out to celebrate with us on the final night of the moose hunting season as I punched my tag with 4 hours to spare. Alaska always delivers!

If you haven’t checked out Heavy Forge, now is a good time to do so! My former co-worker and friend Spencer is incredibly talented and creative. Working as a heavy equipment mechanic in the summer, he saves a lot of equipment parts and repurposes them into amazing functional works of art.

This hatchet is something that he thought up and went for and it just works. The body and handle were originally cable forged into damascus, the striking ends are spring steel, forge welded to the damascus. And then to top it off, 2 pieces of exotic wood for the handle and a beautiful look.

I’m stoked to use this, knowing the hard work and thought he put into this piece. It’ll always travel with me in the backcountry to start fires or clear a path when needed.

Scarlett’s first time shooting a bow yesterday. The look on her face and excitement after a heart shot says it all! Might just make an Alaskan bow hunter out of this one!

Always amazes me when I hear of hunters that don’t keep their bones after their harvest. Their soup must be really bland 🤣 Brisket meat, head meat and marrow in this soup, broth and of course Pilot Bread!

A good buddy of mine got married yesterday on the The Iditarod trail at Scary Tree by DeeDee Jonrowe. He told me they wanted to be married with the racers going by. Was pretty awesome to be there and witness and snap this shot. Congrats you two!

Meals are so much better when hunted by yourself, butchered by yourself and cooked by yourself.

Smoked Over The Top Chili with ground moose, moose breakfast sausage, a small amount of ground beef brisket trimmings and seared, diced moose bacon added at the end!
